What is Fibromyalgia?

Fibromyalgia is a complex condition that can be difficult to diagnose, as its symptoms can often mimic those of other conditions.

What Type of Therapy is Best for Fibromyalgia?

What Type of Therapy is Best for Fibromyalgia?

Fibromyalgia is a complex condition that requires a multifaceted approach to treatment. While there is no single therapy that works for everyone, a combination of approaches can help manage symptoms and improve quality of life. Some of the most effective therapies for fibromyalgia include cognitive-behavioural therapy, physical therapy, and hypnotherapy.

I am very experienced in working those with Fibromyalgia and Chronic Pain conditions and using a wide range of therapy techniques and teaching tools

Is Fibromyalgia Linked to Mental Illness?

Is Fibromyalgia Linked to Mental Illness?

Research has shown that there is a strong link between fibromyalgia and mental illness. Many people with fibromyalgia also suffer from anxiety, depression, or other mood disorders. This may be due to the chronic pain and other symptoms of fibromyalgia, which can take a toll on a person's mental and emotional well-being.

There is also a growing body of evidence that the onset of fibromyalgia symptoms in later life may be linked to earlier emotional, psychological or physical trauma.  My firm belief is that the unprocessed impact or unresolved effect of his trauma causes the body to react and manifest a range of physical symptoms

Living with fibromyalgia can cause us to develop a range of negative thought patterns particularly in the following areas:-

  • how they think about things
  • how they think about themselves
  • how they think about their relationships
  • how they think about the future
  • also, the experiences that they have had over the course of the lifetime
That's the great thing about Hypnotherapy for Fibromyalgia, as it can help someone to change their thought patterns and even re-shape how they feel about the experiences that they have had over the course of their life.

Will I Ever Feel Better from Fibromyalgia?

Will I Ever Feel Better from Fibromyalgia?

While there is currently no pharamalogically cure for fibromyalgia, many people are able to manage their symptoms and improve their quality of life through various treatments and lifestyle changes. With the right combination of therapies and a positive outlook, it is possible to feel better and enjoy a fulfilling life, despite living with fibromyalgia.

I have worked with a number of people and helped them to learn a range of techniques that can significantly reduce the pain symptoms, improve their sleep, and also improve their emotional wellbeing.

One area that I believe is very important to work on for all those that live with the symptoms of fibromyalgia and chronic is to develop self-care practices and to undertake those regularly.  Also, in order to learn to prioritise that practices and to do so without feeling the sense of guilt, self-recrimination, or embarrassment that can be common for those in the fibromyalgia community.

What is the Root Cause of Fibromyalgia?
What is the Root Cause of Fibromyalgia?

The exact cause of fibromyalgia is unknown, but research suggests that it may be related to a combination of factors, possibly including genetics (although this isn't confirmed), environmental factors, and physical and emotional trauma. While there is no single root cause, addressing these underlying factors can help manage symptoms and improve quality of life.

For those that have experienced emotional trauma, it is this that can lead people to develop negative thought patterns, particularly about themselves and this can exacerbate the experience of living with fibromyalgia.

Common thought patterns for those experiencing Fibromyalgia

- I'm not good enough
- I think bad things are going to happen all the time
- It needs to be perfect and it's not
- I can't ask for help
- No one helps me
- I want to do it myself, but my body won't let me
- I know I should try new things, but I don't have any motivation
- No one understands what it's like
- I can't let anyone know how I actually feel
- People are talking about me
- People look at me in a strange way
- People think badly about me
- I just want to help people
- I can never do enough for people

Are Panic Attacks the same as Anxiety. Can Hypnotherapy help with Panic Attacks?

For anyone that experiences or has experienced a panic attack, you have my greatest sympathy.

When I think back to my own personal experiences of them in the past, I can easily recall how physically debilitating, painful, and truly terrifying they can be.  Also, that there always seemed to be a period of recovery time afterwards when I felt fatigued, "brain-foggy", and emotionally depleted.

I wonder if that might resonate with you?

Think of it this way...

I believe that for anyone that experiences anxiety, sometimes it is necessary to "push-through" and continue living your life on a day-to-day basis.  However... We can ignore our anxiety and continue to push-through when we shouldn't.  Our brain is trying to communicate something to us about the situation we find ourselves in and "it" (our brain's) believes that we are in immediate danger of some sort - whether it is true or not, it really doesn't matter!

Our subconscious mind instructs our body to start to freeze and we get the feeling of shutting down.

Hypnotherapy for anxiety and panic attacks can help your mind to unlearn the whatever it is that is causing this situation to arise in the first place.
